The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Membership and Events Coordinator for the McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Reporting to the Communications and Annual Giving Professional at McClung Museum, the Membership and Events Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and building relationships with members and ensuring their continued engagement in and support for the museum’s educational mission and initiatives.

Responsibilities

This role will develop and implement member appeals, communicate with and steward members, maintain member information, and organize events. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Membership Functions: Oversee all aspects of membership recruitment, retention, and engagement, and build relationships with existing members. Develop and implement strategies to grow the membership base and enhance member satisfaction. Analyze membership data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Cultivate relationships with current and prospective members to understand their needs and preferences. Represent the organization at community events to promote membership benefits and opportunities. Dissemination of new member/ renewal membership packets and monthly member renewal appeals; coordination/facilitation of Member Days. Oversee donor database management assistance to include renewing members & adding payroll deduction members. Identify opportunities for sponsorship, revenue growth, and benefit enhancement. Serve as the primary contact for museum stewardship initiatives and activities.

Event Management: Provide event planning and management to include special receptions, educational programming, outreach initiatives, and board meetings. Coordinate and implement other events as assigned.

Development: Identify corporate sponsors and prepare and present funding proposals for specific projects. Provide next- level service, answering daily member calls, emails, and questions. Manage and complete inventory of membership and stewardship materials. Support marketing efforts and collaborate with the Museum’s Communications Professional to create compelling member materials, including impact reports and stewardship updates.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Membership & Events Coordinator position is required to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years of advancement related experience (sales, development, event planning, membership coordination, account management, volunteer management, etc.)


Preferred Education And Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in strategic planning or membership management, corporate and marketing initiates
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience in nonprofit arts and culture organizations and experience with corporate giving
  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible advancement experience in fundraising, specifically managing a portfolio with demonstrated success in closing gifts
