Faculty position at Simmons University School of Library and Information Science in the Information Science & Technology area Simmons University's School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) seeks outstanding scholars and teachers to fill
a faculty position (tenure track and higher) to start in Fall 2025. Simmons SLIS prepares students for inspired service, advocacy, and leadership in library and information science, archives, school libraries, and children's services. Applicants should be able to teach in our Information Science & Technology concentration and in our Libraries and Librarianship concentration. We are particularly seeking applications from candidates with research interests in the interactions of people with information and technology and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas:
- Application of information technology in the context of libraries, archives, museums, and other information centers;
- Introduction to Programming, Database Management, Data Interoperability/XML, User Experience and Human-Computer Interaction, Web Development;
- Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Technologies - VR/AR/XR;
- Data Science, including Data Management, Analytics, and Information Visualization.
Candidates will be expected to teach, conduct research, contribute to curriculum development, and provide service to the School, the University, and the information professions. Experience in designing and delivering online courses in an asynchronous environment is highly desirable, as is the availability to teach in our face-to-face program. Opportunities to teach include master's and doctoral level courses and face-to-face in Boston and at the SLIS West program in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
Requirements: - Applicants must hold or expect to complete a doctoral degree in library and information science, information studies, or an appropriately related field, ideally by December 15, 2024.
